Did you grow up in a town with a PARK RIDE TRAIN?
Or maybe the local Drive In Movie had a train to entertain the kids before the show started?
Do you remember the "engineer"? Remember how you wanted to be a railroad engineer when you grew up? On the Boston and Maine, or maybe it was the Southern Pacific, B&O, Great Northern, or dozens of other  railroads that have been swallowed up?  But you got sidetracked by college, the draft, marriage, kids and grandkids.
Don't put off your childhood dream any longer!!!
AMERICA'S NATIONAL PARK RIDE TRAIN MUSEUM has the only PARK RIDE RAILROAD ENGINEER Certification Program in the world.
We offer a three day training program on our M.T.C. park ride trains. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday only. Just a couple of hours a day will leave you plenty of time to explore the rest of historic Otero and Lincoln Counties.

You will learn proper routine maintenance of a MTC G-16 locomotive.
M.O.W. and safety proceedures for 16" track, switches and diamonds.
Electronic crossing bells and lights.
Operation contols of the G-16, and finally running the G-16 over our 10 scale miles of track in Alameda Park, Alamogordo, New Mexico, USA.

This is a hands on experience. You will get dirty and greasy.  Insurance rules and common sense will not allow you to carry our revenue passengers, but bring the family and cameras and camcorders.

Your three day program includes a guided 4X4 and hiking tour of the roadbed and trestles of the Alamogordo/Sacramento Mountain Railway (1898-1947).
Cost is $150 and does not include transportation, lodging or meals
